Biography

A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, bassoonist Carla Wilson, has been actively performing since 1979. For the last couple of decades or so she has served as principal bassoonist with the Santa Rosa, Marin, Berkeley, and California Symphonies. She performs, records, and tours with the San Francisco Symphony. This past spring she performed with them as a part of their American Mavericks residency at Carnegie Hall. She completed a Bachelor of Music degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she studied with Walter Green. Further studies took place at the Aspen Festival, the Tanglewood Music Festival and on scholarship in London. She has participated in the Cabrillo, San Luis Obispo and Mendocino Festivals, and has been principal bassoonist with the Music in the Mountains Festival Orchestra since 1982.
