About the Bruns Amphitheater
We would like to acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the ancestral home of the Chochenyo-speaking Ohlone people. This land has a deep history and a community of people who have lived here for thousands of years. For those of us who are not Indigenous to this land, the Shuumi Land Tax is a way to acknowledge this history and the Ohlone community.
Siest Valley is one of the original land holdings of the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EMBUD). In agreeing to lease to the Theater, EMBUD seeks to serve the public with a community facility while preserving the watershed with minial disruption to the pastoral surroundings.
HOW DO I GET THERE?
The Bruns Amphitheatre is located at 100 California Shakespeare Theater Way, Orinda CA 94563, which is about 7 miles from Berkeley and Oakland, just off Highway 24. There’s free parking onsite, or you can take BART to the Orinda station and catch the free shuttle, which runs every 20 minutes beginning two hours before each performance.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
We recommend wearing layers and comfortable shoes – the ground can be uneven and the weather can vary from hot sunlight to chilly evenings. We have blankets available to borrow, or you can bring your own.
WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT YOUR SPACE?
Because we are an outdoor venue, you may be impacted by the following:
– Wildlife including bees and yellowjackets
– Eucalyptus groves
– Bare dirt, slippery leaves, and uneven ground
– Chilly evenings and fog during evening shows and heat and bright sunshine during daytime shows
IS THE BRUNS ACCESSIBLE?
We work to make the Bruns Amphitheater as accessible as possible to patrons with disabilities. Here are some specific offerings we currently have.
