Jayce Ogren recently finished his term as the assistant conductor of The Cleveland Orchestra, where he made his subscription debut in May 2009 and served as the music director of The Cleveland Youth Orchestra. He has made key debuts with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Grand Rapids Symphony, and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. In New York, he debuted with the International Contemporary Ensemble under the auspices of the Miller Theater, and was invited to conduct a staged production of Mozart’s Magic Flute with the New York City Opera.
A native of Hoquiam, Washington, Jayce Ogren holds degrees in composition and conducting from St. Olaf College and the New England Conservatory, respectively. He is also the founder of Young Kreisler, a Seattle-based band performing his own work, as well as music ranging from Mahler to Piazzolla to Kurt Cobain. Devoted to education, Jayce Ogren has worked with student musicians throughout the United States, appearing most recently as a guest composer/conductor at the 2004 Washington All-State Music Festival.
